Privacy Policy

By Name is built by Gabe Carter as a personal productivity app. This policy explains how the app handles your information. The short version: it doesn't collect any.

Data Collection

By Name does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data with the developer or anyone else. Your names, notes, and settings are stored on your device. Starting with version 1.3, if you are signed in to iCloud, they are also kept in your own private iCloud account, so they sync to your other devices and come back if you replace your phone. That copy belongs to your Apple account. The developer cannot see it.

No Analytics

The app contains no analytics, tracking, or telemetry of any kind.

No Third-Party Services

By Name does not integrate with any third-party services, advertising networks, or data brokers.

No Account Required

The app does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in to any service.

Data Storage

Your data is stored on your device and, starting with version 1.3, in the private iCloud database that belongs to your Apple account if you use iCloud. Only you can access it. You can turn off iCloud for By Name in your iPhone's iCloud settings. If you delete the app while iCloud is on, your names stay in iCloud and return when you reinstall. To remove them completely, also delete By Name's data from your iCloud storage settings.

Siri Integration

When you use Siri voice commands, your voice input is processed by Apple's Siri framework. By Name does not have access to your voice recordings. The processed text is saved with the rest of your names.

Notifications

The app may send local notifications for reminders you configure. These are scheduled entirely on-device and do not involve any external server.

Children's Privacy

By Name does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

Any updates to this privacy policy will be reflected here with an updated date.
